It's my fault. I made Sean listen to this infectious little tune first thing this morning.

It's High Noon. Do You Know Where Your Soon-To-Be-Former Employers Are?
Today is my last day of work at Company Y, with whom I've been employed for nearly three years. The decision to leave was necessitated by the constant media intrusion, which made leading normal lives a near impossibility. It's an amicable parting, and we hope that our privacy will be respected during this difficult time as we go our separate ways.
Well, what the heck, I figured it worked for Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.
So, the clock is ticking down my last hours with the company. While I would LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE to spill some of the finer details of why I'm leaving, I AM leaving on good terms and I'd like to keep it that way. However, if those of you who are "in the know" used the comments here to dish about some of the nuttier things that have happened, well, let's just say I wouldn't stop you.
P.S. Hey, if you should happen to run into my employers, would you let them know that I'm looking for them? The hourglass is running and I'd like to transition my projects over sometime before I leave.

Expecting That "Mother of the Year" Award Any Day Now
There might or might not be another post about how we spent Mother's Day. In the meantime, this is what breakfast looked like.

Yeti in a Blue Dress
Okay, what is wrong with this woman's legs? Are they hairy or just splotchy? I get that the Land's End target demographic kind of runs between preppy and earthy, which can make the marketing approach somewhat confusing. Still. Airbrush, people, airbrush.

More of the Highbrow Entertainment You're Accustomed to Finding Here
While getting Sophie ready for a bath one evening this weekend, Sean emerged from the bathroom holding the pants she had been wearing at arm's length. "She sharted," he announced.
"Okay...what does that mean?"
"You know what a 'vurp' is, right?"
"Yeah..."
"Same principle."

Interviews I Have Had*:
- The one during which the department director was so obviously in need of a stimulant that I nearly offered to get him some coffee.
- The one where the department director asked me two questions and then spent 45 minutes talking about tennis.
- The one that is memorable for no other reason than the fact that my right eye twitched uncontrollably for the entire interview. ALL TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF IT.
- The one in which the department director claimed to have "10 or 12" employees in the department, but the research associate looked confused and said, "Ummm...it's just me and the director." (For the record, I withdrew my candidacy immediately following the interview.)
- The one in which I was asked my salary requirements, and then asked how much less I'd be willing to accept.
- The one that took place in a building that attracted obscenity-shouting homeless dudes like moths to the flame.
- The one in which the research associate laughed out loud after hearing the department director's self-described personal management style.
- The one in which - appropos of nothing - the department director very defensively stated that they don't "cook the data". (Uh, guy? I'm no expert on defense strategy, but it's generally considered suspicious to deny doing something you haven't been accused of. I'm just saying.)
- The one in which the hiring manager looked over my little black suit and Coach bag and commented, "If you think this position will shoot you right to the top of the company, it won't." (That one? I didn't even bother sending a post-interview thank you note.)
- The one that was evidently less hinged on job competence than on ability to "personally connect" with the ever-so-important drug dealer client segment. (Gee, and to think that saying NO to drugs was supposed to increase my employability...)
* A sampling from across many years. Some interviews represented multiple times.
